I was quite pleased with my experience at the ER on Sunday. I did not have to wait at all. They did have to take 7 x-rays to get a good view of my elbow and that took the most time. Although I think they sprained my wrist when taking the x-rays of my elbow, because my wrist did not bother me until then. They were very kind to me, when I got upset. I did lose it for a brief time when they asked if there was anybody who could come sit with me.
After looking at the x-rays and poking my arm for a while a they decided that I broke elbow, but said they wanted me to see an orthopedist to cast it. So I left with a temporary cast and prescription for the pain.
This morning, I picked up my x-rays and headed to an orthopedist an acquaintance recommended. The ER faxed over my records. The doctor told me that ER said they could not find the break and that is why they sent me to him. He found it right away. He told me that if they put me in cast it would not hurt so much, but I would lose mobility in my elbow forever. So I do not have to wear a cast, but I have to suck up the pain. I have to go back in two weeks for more x-rays and have to keep it immobile and in a sling until then.
When I got to work, I got a call from the ER. Apparently, they have another doctor review cases. I guess for quality control or something. This doctor told me that she reviewed my x-rays and found the break. She wanted me to come back to have a permanent cast put on. I told her I saw another doctor already and he did not want to cast me. She said “Oh, okay. Bye.”
I am really tired and have been having trouble concentrating, but I think that the worst is over.
